An experience of virtual wine tasting for remote teams can be an incredible way to connect with your coworkers and explore new vintages as well as learn something fun together. And do we need an excuse to drink wine?

But how experience it with a remote team?

Luckily in a post-Covid age there are now plenty of remote wine tasting options. Let’s explore some, figure out how it works and have some bubbly fun in the process. Enjoying-Wine-Party

Let’s get started with some wine trivia:

“Toasting” originated in ancient Rome when they retained Greek traditions. It’s derived from dropping a piece of toasted bread into wine.

Cabernet Sauvignon is the most popular grape variety in the world. It has its origin in Bordeaux, France but is planted all over the world. This delicious grape gives rich full-bodied red wines with high tannins and good acidity, as well as having a typical aroma of blackcurrant which makes it perfect for wine tasting with dishes like grilled meats.

Virtual Wine Tasting

Team Building Awards explored Rockoly https://rockoly.com/wine-tasting and found some interesting virtual wine tasting options below. What’s unique is that Rockoly delivers 3 750ml bottles to your team’s door steps. That’s pretty generous compared to competition and if you ask us we like more wine for our money.

The wine tasting takes place over Zoom by a professional sommelier and the prices depend on the size of the team and the season.

Team Building Game: What kind of Wine are you?

This is a great way to get to know the room a little better if you’re in a larger group of wine connoisseurs. Ask each person to introduce themselves and their favorite wines. If someone hasn’t tried your favorite yet, you can get to know them a little bit better. This can also be a great way to get to know people in a larger group if you’re new to the scene.

In any virtual team building communication is key. The more you share and engage the better it works.

Virtual Blind Tasting

As another twist we do the wine tasting blindfolded! Our brain is using a lot of processing power on interpreting images. By blindfolding yourself you and your team can focus on the finer detail of taste.

Don’t be shy to share the flavor notes with your teammates. Tasting and exploring together during virtual wine tasting is the magic sauce of team building.

Being blindfolded also helps your shyer coworkers to feel safer and really step out of their comfort zone. If drinking wine, at home and blindfolded does not get them to open up, nothing will 🙂

Happy Hour

Nothing says “welcome to a wine tasting” like a drink or three at the beginning of the experience. You can have beer, wine, or cocktails to kick off your experience, whichever you’d like.
