To create a competent team, team leaders need to create a feeling of connectedness among members. There has to be some sort of cordial relationship or even better yet, a friendship between the members of a team. This can be a little more difficult to achieve than usual in the case of virtual teams. Members know little about one another outside of their Zoom screens. To help create connections between team members, team-building activities have proven very useful. However, to create a better bond between individuals, bonding over FaceTime has shown better results. A simple FaceTime call without an agenda would be boring and awkward. To help you with that we bring you a list of FaceTime games that are fun to play and break the ice between unacquainted colleagues.
Here’s a list of the best games to play on FaceTime:
- Read My Lips
- Would You Rather
- Charades
- Two Truths and a Lie
- Hangman
- Find the Item!
- Pictionary
1. Read My Lips
A fun little game that will have you in fits of laughter for sure! One person puts themselves on mute and picks a word to say to the other player. You can set the rules beforehand like if the person can only say a word or they can only say a phrase with three words or if they can only say words related to a certain theme. The person whose lips are to be read has to say the word very clearly three times and the other person has to guess. You can keep a time limit to make things even more fun.
2. Would You Rather
This classic game is not only a lot of fun but also gives insights into the players’ personalities. Players are given two options in the form of questions and they choose an answer. For example, would you rather go into the future or go back into the past?. You can make your own questions or use the hundreds available on the internet. You can even choose a theme and play accordingly. Compare your answers to see how similar or different you are.
3. Charades
A favorite at parties, picnics, and bonfires: charades. We’ve all played it in one form or the other. Virtual charades is a great FaceTime game that is bound to keep everyone entertained. Pick a theme or just randomly choose a word, a phrase, a place, a movie, literally anything and act it out. The other player has to guess what you’re depicting before they run out of time. This game can also be played in groups of two.
4. Two Truths and a Lie
This fun-filled game can be played on both a personal level and an office level. One person has to tell the other three things. Two of these are true while one is a lie. The other person has to guess what is true and what is not. This can be a fun get-to-know someone game and the results can be hilarious!
5. Hangman
Everybody loves Hangman. This fun game that you would often play as kids is a great way to connect with colleagues on FaceTime. One player has to choose a word and write it on a piece of paper or a whiteboard that is visible to the other. The other has to guess letters. For each wrong letter, the hangman will get a limb or a body part. To win, the player has to guess the word before the hangman is complete! To make it more entertaining, you can choose words from a certain theme and add a timer. You can also keep score to see who wins the maximum number of games
6. Find The Item!
Create a list of items you want each player to find. It can be according to a theme or just random commonplace objects. The players are given the list and are asked to find as many things on the list as they can within the given time. The player to find the greatest number of things on the list wins!
7. Pictionary
Another classic game loved by all! To play virtual Pictionary each player needs a whiteboard or a large piece of paper and a marker. Position your camera in a way that the other player can see what you’re drawing. Make sure the marker you choose can be seen clearly over the screen. Choose a random object or use an online word generator to choose one for you and draw it on a piece of paper. The other player will try to guess what the word is. Make sure to not say it out loud or else you’ll lose a point!
Conclusion
To increase the efficiency and performance of a team, its members need to be engaged. Research shows having friends at work increases productivity. Virtual teams don’t interact physically and that makes it a little difficult to develop bonds and friendships. Interacting on FaceTime helps break the ice among members and fosters friendships.
